Virginia Inland Port (VIP) Waybill Process

Virginia Inland Port (VIP) Waybill Process

A waybill must be created for all containers moving to VIP from a Port of Virginia Marine facility. This is accomplished using the Online Inland Port Waybill System at www.vit.org. Click on the tab named VIP Rail Waybill and follow the step-by-step Wizard. This process only applies to Non-Hazardous Containers moving to the inland port.

Containers moving from the VIP to a marine terminal do not require a waybill to be entered in this system. Waybills are automatically generated at time of rail loading at the inland port. See instructions  below for Hazardous movements.

Hazardous Container Info - Waybills for hazardous containers moving to the inland port from the marine terminals must be created through the Norfolk Southern system directly. Haz containers moving from the VIP to a marine terminal required Hazardous Documentation to be submitted to the Inland Port staff. For more information please call VIP at 1-800-883-7678
