Hanjin Leased Containers – Empty Recovery Process Notice #1

Effective immediately, empty Hanjin leased containers can be recovered from Port of Virginia facilities, by container leasing companies, under the following conditions:
  • Leasing company provides a list of empty containers to be recovered
  • An empty release charge of $254.00 per container must be paid prior to pick-up
    • Payment of the charge must be made via wire or money transfer, and is required for containers located at Norfolk International Terminals or the PPCY
    • For empty containers at Virginia International Gateway, payment can be made through our LYNX payment platform (credit card payment only)

  • Beginning on November 1, 2016, a storage charge of $2.55 per day will accrue against empty Hanjin leased containers remaining on Port of Virginia facilities, in addition to the release charge
  • Pre-Notice to Pick up:
    • NIT – No Notice Required
    • VIG – No Notice Required
    • PPCY – Required – Three (3) business days prior to pick-up – Please send notice to POVCustomerService@vit.org
  • Pickup Hours:
    • NIT – Monday – Friday (8am – 5pm) – No Saturday pickups
    • VIG – Normal Gate Hours including Saturdays
    • PPCY – Normal Gate Hours including Saturdays
